Super Brilliantly Important Pro Tip for Writers

The pro tip is this: check your email Junk/Spam folders daily. Make it a ritual—you won’t regret it. If you’re submitting writing, likely a lot of acceptances will end up in your spam folder. And, as you know, spam automatically gets deleted after a certain period (ten days or so, depending on your email provider).

This is no joke. The acceptance emails for my chapbook and my first poetry collection were labeled as spam. And a lot of acceptances from journals and magazines are viewed as spam by email providers. Why? It’s simple—most acceptances include the word Congratulations in the subject line and in the body of the email, just like a lot of junk mail does. “Congratulations you just Won BIG!! One Eyed Jacks Casino! NEVER work again!!!!”

Don’t miss out on the Good News. Check your email Junk/Spam folders daily.
